Red wine 100% Monastrell (D.O Valencia).
Coming from old vineyards of Monastrell grown ecologically in Fontanars dels Alforins, a small town in the southwest of Valencia. Its creator is Rafa Cambra, who embroider this red staff that stands out for a fresh and tasty mouth and an explosive nose of red fruits and sweet spices. A great Mediterranean red.
The Monastrell grapes come from an old vineyard with a free standing, on a hillside, with a north orientation, under rainfed conditions and under organic cultivation. Located at 700 meters of altitude.The age of the vineyard is 60 years.
Selected vintage collected in boxes of 10 kilograms. Grape destemmed and soft crushed. Maceration of 18 days at controlled temperature of 28ºC and in stainless steel tanks of 10 hectoliters. Lightweight reassembled.
Aged 14 months in barrels of 500 liters of French oak, of which 20% are new.
Filtered, not clarified or stabilized.
Deep cherry red color. Red and black fruit (strawberry, cherry, blackcurrant), lactic and spicy notes (cedar, licorice). In the mouth it is unctuous, fresh, balanced and with the wood well integrated. Optimum consumption from the moment of purchase and up to 2021 if kept in good condition. Perfect to enjoy with Gazpacho manchego, mellow rice, red meats, fish and seafood in sauces.
Rafa Cambra is a small producer of Fontanars dels Alforins. It is a small enclave – of 800 inhabitants – quite peculiar by its location, to the southwest of Valencia, in the limit of four provinces.
Rafa Cambra works in the field and in the winery with the least possible intervention. Cultivation in ecological and respect to the environment and the nature of the zone. Pines and cereal surround the vineyard, allowing them not to have a dominant pest. Sunflowers in summer, olive trees, almond trees in the highest areas, all contribute to biodiversity and therefore fewer diseases than trying to fight in the vineyard.
Unlike other wine-growing areas, in the spring season, they do not prune in green or leafless, so that the leaves are in free formation and there is always a face exposed to the sun. In such a hot and dry area it is important that the grapes are not constantly sunny and have hours of shade.
Its vineyards of Monastrell sit on clay-calcareous soils, which drain very well and store water to withstand the very dry summers. They are 55-year-old strains in vessel formation, with a balanced vigor between fruit and leaves. The vineyards are planted on slight slopes, about 700 meters above sea level, located in the lower part of the mountain range of L’ombria. It also has Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines and, to a lesser extent, vines of native varieties in the process of recovery such as the Forcallat.
