White wine 100% Gewürztraminer, V.T. Castilla
To elaborate this wine was a little,”luck”. Planting the Gewürztraminer grape in a place like Cogolludo in the province of Guadalajara, despite being the vineyard at almost 1000 meters altitude, was a big risk, but that “luck” made the plant adapt to that magnificent environment. These vineyards deliver dry single-varietal whites with a spicy finish and a bitter touch that invites a new drink. It is a sharp, acid and aromatic wine, raised on lees for 4 months, which gives it greasiness and volume in the mouth, with a light and delicious memory of pink pepper.
The Gewürztraminer comes from 4.5 hectares of its own vineyard planted in 2005, on limestone limestone soil and a first layer of clay, boulder and poor in nutrients.
Harvest by hand in boxes of 18 to 20 kilograms. Cold skin maceration for 20 hours and subsequent removal of the yolk. Fermentation at 16º C. Breeding on lees for 4 months in stainless steel tank.
Clean and bright, golden yellow with greenish edges. Aromatic, exuberant, very complex aromatic intensity. Very accented floral notes, together with various fruit notes, peach, pineapple, green apple and pear, together with essences of citrus and typical muscatel notes of the variety stand out.
In the mouth it is dry, fresh, but very unctuous, fatty, with a lot of volume in the mouth, silky and very intense and persistent.
Finca Río Negro, at the end of the 90’s the Fuentes family decided to start the Bodegas Río Negro. In this way he made his illusion of elaborating one of the most private wines of Spain recovering the wine tradition of the area.
The Finca Río Negro is located in the town of Cogolludo, in the province of Guadalajara, in the foothills of the Sierra de Ayllón and next to the villages of the Black Architecture. Its main peculiarity is the height of its vineyards, located almost 1,000 meters, thus defying the traditional limits of grape cultivation.
