This year 2017 the valuation of our prize has been more complicated than we expected, sincerely we have found a great quality in the wines tasted. But in the end there has to be a standout and in this case it is “Mirabras” a wine made by Bodegas Barbadillo, in 2014, Montserrat Molina enologist of Barbadillo, it was good that the musts of the oldest vineyards of Santa Lucia fermented in boots old of sherry. Everything was arranged to recover an old-fashioned elaboration: sun, good oak envy, patience, control and chance in equal parts. The wine rested on fine lees for a few months, then it went on to be stored for “toca dedos” and finally in stainless … until today. Pure essence of Andalusia. A great expressive wine that leaves no one indifferent and that contains a great point of irreverence. How we like it!!
If you are looking for a caress, do it somewhere else. Mirabrás is a song by Mairena suspended in the air of an old wine cellar lounge.
Congratulations to the winemaker Montserrat Molina and the head of high enology of Barbadillo Armando Guerra, for this great project.
